Merida, Yucatan, The First 10 Years

We live part time in the Yucatan, the Santiago neighborhood of Merida. We bought a house here in 2003, and I have been photographing extensively ever since. It is a photographers paradise, the textures, the architecture, and the people make for great subject matter to explore, everyday.

  • Chuburna Puebla.  This is a old village that used to be aoutside of Merida, now it is considered a suburb.
  • Izamal, a former convent town 60 kms outside of Merida
  • Musician at the Sunday morning market in Chuburna Puebla.

  • A mayan women, with her "canasta" of her bakery good for sale. On the corner near Casa Walker.  I had a "Cartier Bresson" moment.

  • This is a very untouristed cave we found near the ruin of Oxkintok, in the Yucatan.<br />
An enchanting spot, we visited about 4:00PM.
